I have been giving thought as to the best direction for my art to take. It seems to me that representational art that seeks merely to duplicate nature is largely a barren field as photography can do it so much better and so much more quickly, i.e. there is no point to superrealism or photorealism, as I see it. This leaves the domain of abstraction open as no camera can ever see what the mind of an artist can. This means I will be looking at organic abstractions to start with and my next post will offer such an example. In the meantime, here is a photo of me in the market at Otovalo, Ecuador wondering about a strange cucumber I stumbled upon.
